MAIN ACTIVITIES OR TASKS

Strategic Planning & Program Development

• Develop and implement sustainability strategies that align with DP World’s “Our World, Our Future” vision and its 7 responsible business priorities.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into core business functions, focusing on Women’s Empowerment, Education, and Water stewardship.
• Put in place the local sustainable development agenda under thematic aspects and approaches.
• Initiate yearly wellness plan and work on its execution.
   

Project Management & Implementation

• Lead sustainability projects across the business operations, ensuring they are executed effectively and within budget.
• Monitor and report on project milestones, environmental impacts, and community engagement initiatives.
• Study funding requests and monitor the contributions of the company.
   

Stakeholder Engagement

• Engage with local communities, NGOs, government agencies, and industry partners to build partnerships and support DP World’s sustainability goals.
• Promote dialogue and transparency around DP World’s sustainability efforts, acting as a spokesperson on relevant initiatives.
  Compliance & Reporting.
• Ensure compliance with local and international environmental standards and regulations.
• Prepare and present periodic reports detailing progress on sustainability KPIs, adhering to global standards and reporting frameworks.
• Collect data on a monthly and annual basis as part of the evaluation of the SD activity of the SSA region.
• Send the monthly Sustainability reporting to headquarters no later than the 3rd of each month.
   

Education, Training & Advocacy

•  Champion sustainability awareness within DP World Dakar by organizing training sessions for employees and stakeholders.
• Promote and disseminate the sustainable development approach both internally and externally.
• Drive community education programs focusing on the 3 pillars, with an emphasis on Women’s Empowerment, Education, and Water conservation.
• Implement the animation of Global Sustainable Development through the company in collaboration with the departments HC, GSE, Business Development, Purchasing and Sales.
• Share best practices with BUs, Regions and the dedicated Sustainable Development Team at Headquarters.
• Be involved in the adoption of new sustainability behaviours in relation to commemorative events such as international days celebration: women day, environment day, ocean day, world water day and so on.
   

Innovation & Best Practices

• Identify and implement the best practices in sustainability to drive continuous improvement.
• Track emerging trends in sustainable logistics and supply chain management and recommend innovative solutions to enhance DP World Dakar’s sustainability performance.
   

The above responsibilities are not exhaustive and may be adjusted as needed. You may also be required to carry out additional tasks related to your role, as directed by the People Director.

 

INTERNAL & EXTERNAL CONTACTS

• Internal : All departments, headquarters, other DP World entities.
• External: Organization active in sustainable development and others. 

 

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

• Minimum of bachelor’s degree in environmental science, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in sustainability, CSR, or environmental management, ideally within the logistics or port industries.
• Proven track record in managing projects with a social or environmental focus, with experience in the areas of Women’s Empowerment, Education, or Water.
• Strong understanding of sustainability frameworks, local regulations, and global environmental standards.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.
• Budgeting and reporting skills are required
• Fluent in English and French.
