TITLE: Community Facilitator

TEAM/PROGRAMME: Nutrition Program             LOCATION: Ohn Taw Gyi (South) Camp, Sittwe Township, Rakhine State

Number of Position: 1

GRADE: NAT 6  CONTRACT LENGTH: Fixed Term

 

CHILD SAFEGUARDING: 

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the vetting process staff.

 

ROLE PURPOSE: 

To active implement and to ensure the activities are implmented properly for the activities of the Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) interventions in Sittwe, Rakhine State in close collaboration with community volunteers and mother to mother support groups, father to fathers support groups and community. This program aims to strengthen the food security and livelihoods of poor and vulnerable groups to recover from and to withstand variable shocks and stressors. In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

Reports to: Project Assistant - Nutrition

Staff reporting to this post: Community Nutrition Workers

Budget Responsibilities: No Financial Approval

Role Dimensions: Regular contact of basic factual information

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY : 

•              Assist to Project Assistant in formation of Mother to Mother Support Groups-MtMSG  and Father to Father Support Groups- FtFSG in project area 

•              Conduct SBCC sessions with MtMSG, FtFSG and key influencers in project area

•              Assist supervisor in conducting of Improved complementary feeding recipes cooking competition 

•              Malnourished screening, BSFP distribution, Supervision of community volunteer, Mother leaders.

•              Support and supervise on Family MUAC implementation in project area

•              Assist to Project Assistant in the activities of provision of hygiene kits to women and children in project area

•              Assist to Project Assistant in Nutrition Promotion activities in project area

•              Provide in supporting of nutrition activities such as one to one counselling and supportive actions to volunteers

•              Assist to Supervisors in training provision to volunteers and health staffs

•              Support in Nutrition Program Monitoring activities

•              Support and assist on high risk pregnancy referral for malnutrition, malnourished children in project area through assisting to villages health volunteers

•              Sharing of problems solving ways and lessons studies to colleagues

•              Assist the supervisor in coordination and cooperation with local authorities and key stakeholders

•              Prepare the monthly report on project activities for respective assigned villages

•              Scaling up of nutrition volunteer and village development committee members.

•              Ensure the documentation of project activities and monitoring results

•              Any other duties and tasks assigned by supervisor

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

•              Middle school,High school or equivalent education, 

•              University graduated with any specialization is preferable

•              Any working experience in social welfare or business sectors ( Nutrition program experience  is more preferable)

•              Experience or willing in working at hard to reach/ remote areas with limited resources

•              Respect the local culture, belief and tradition and eager to learn from community. Understanding of local dialects is preferable

•              Strong commitment and dedication for development of grass root people 

•              Good team member and willing to work with various type of people

•              Computer proficiency (at least MS and Excel)

•              Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles.

Additional job responsibilities

The duties and responsibilities as set out above are not exhaustive and the role holder may be required to carry out additional duties within reasonableness of their level of skills and experience.

•              Promote the message of child safeguarding to colleagues in other organizations and government ministries, children in their own and beneficiary families, and community members in general. 

•              Be vigilant about observing possible child abuse/harm in their personal and professional lives. 

 

All managers have the above responsibilities as well as ensuring 

•              Their staff are doing the above. 

•              That child safeguarding is integrated and given a “voice” in all management processes including recruitment, induction, performance management, team meetings, annual planning processes, field level monitoring, etc.
