What we are looking for
We are looking for a Business Services Manager to join our new Housing Operations and (DLO) Direct Labour Organisation Team. To be successful, you will be driven and share our values, commitment, and motivation to make a difference for our residents, clients, and communities.
Babergh and Mid-Suffolk District Councils are going through an exciting period of change, with a new operating model being developed for the DLO within our Housing Directorate.
The DLO oversees the maintenance of housing repairs and voids with some planned work activities and is supported by several contractors. The DLO has its own trade team.
This is your opportunity to join our new team at inception and to help shape the future of our Housing Operations and DLO.
About the role
Reporting directly to the Head of Operations DLO, you will provide leadership and take operational accountability for the direction, management, delivery and performance of the business supporting functions and customer experience of the Building Services DLO.
You will represent the DLO on both strategic and operational direction and you will lead on activities with key stakeholders, building key relationships that will support the delivery of excellence within the DLO business model and provide an exceptional experience for our customers, placing them at the heart of everything that we do.
You will work closely with the Head of Operations to lead strategic and operational activity in core business areas incorporating operational work planning, business intelligence, customer experience, business support and material /fleet management for the DLO.
This role is the key driver for ongoing service delivery improvements through strong resource and performance management, sound working policies and established cross functional working practices. You will lead a culture of continuous improvement, customer focus, collaborative working and innovation with the DLO.
About you
It is likely that you will have gained a relevant qualification at NVQ4/degree level plus significant post qualification experience or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in the work place.
A qualification in a statistical/analytical discipline or equivalent experience is also desirable.
This is a management role with responsibility for a multi-disciplinary business and customer services function and we are therefore looking for an individual with extensive management experience at a senior level, gained in a sizeable and complex organisation.
You will need to demonstrate:
- ability to shape services delivering customer excellence
- ability to quickly develop a strategic understanding of the priorities of our business and customer services functions and service delivery as well as the organisation as a whole
- experience of performance and corporate management, risk management, financial and budgetary management and people management
- ability to work with a high degree of autonomy to set and deliver business priorities and manage workload within a pressurised and dynamic operating environment
- proven team management, organisation and motivational skills to create a cohesive team that works individually and together towards shared goals of excellence in customer experience
- excellent numerical and analytical skills, including the use of both statistical tools and technology for analysis
- ability to produce reports and share analysis in a concise and clear way, with accuracy and attention to relevant detail
- excellent organisation, time management and prioritisation skills with experience of managing team, project and business priorities in a complex and high demand environment.
